This is my full-time job, not some side hustle. I don’t have a lot of the distractions that some of those other proofreaders have such as a family to attend to, school, or a day job to go to. In my world, there are no PTA meetings or golf outings with my buddies. My partner works 50 or more hours every week so, sadly for me, she is not demanding of my attention.
I have a proper office setup where I can be found from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. almost every day. I have a system in place to automatically send out invoices on the first of each month. Marketing and things like that are mostly on autopilot or handled by someone else.
Having systems in place leads to efficiency and allows me, as a freelancer, to have the time needed to pay extra attention as I proofread your files. Streamlining my work allows me the extra time needed to develop a relationship with each court reporter I work with so I can understand and adhere to their particular needs and preferences.
